Last year, the students of Year 7 at Notley High School from Braintree in Essex made a generous donation to us here at the Fatboys. Well....they've kindly done it again this year through their fund raising activities. They didn't specify exactly what it was they had done to raise the money, but we are grateful nonetheless. Thanks to you all !
One of Mike Lawless' relatives, Stu Lawless was called into his boss' office recently where he was told that his Goatie was not in keeping with his professional image and neither was his close cropped hair. He was told the beard had to go and the locks had to grow or he would go.
Stu reluctantly agreed but seized the opportunity to raise some cash for Fatboy's Cancer Charity and did a sponsored shave to get rid of the offending barb. He raised well in excess of £100. Cheers Stu
Fatboy's Charity made a significant donation to Lethbridge Primary School in Swindon to purchase some outdoor equipment in memory of seven year old Tyrese Hannah who was tragically killed in a road collision recently . Tyrese was a junior member of Swindon Rugby Club who have been strong supporters of this Charity over the years. We pass on our condolences to Tyrese' family and hope that many children will get enjoyment from the purchase of the equipment in his memory.
The annual event provided yet another successful and enjoyable day with just under £6000 raised through ticket sales and auction lots. Kind donations were made to the Auction by River Cottage and Hedgehog Corner in Devon , Bath RFC, England Rugby, Edinburgh RFC, Tom Shanklin of Wales, Middlesbrough FC, SRU and a host of others. The rugby match was won 53-15 by the Police team but the Lawless XV have vowed to return stronger next year.
The evening featured live music from The Tin Shack Band, Hoof Hearted , Turtle Shed and The Lawless with some quality rock musicianship all round. David Young at The 12 Bar supplied a marvellous venue again, and did a roaring trade in alcohol !! Paul Allen worked his nuts off doing the sound for the bands, and all in all it was another good piss up with lots of money raised!
Next year is the 10th anniversary, and so expect more surprise entertainment next year.
Thanks to all who organised, attended, played rugby, played music, spent money or just got pissed !!
